520 | _aThe book serves as a way to connect and network with unpaid mental health carers as the experience of providing unpaid care can be an isolating experience. The 2nd book by Matthew McKenzie who is a former mental health carer tried to capture the challenges faced by carers with insight from unpaid carers, NHS staff, lived experienced survivors and researchers on what mental health care looks like. The author, Matthew McKenzie, voluntarily runs carer groups in South London. He was nominated jointly for "Carer contribution to psychiatry" in 2014. Matthew has kept the spotlight on carers by being involved in care projects such as The Triangle of Care and also judging on system led support carers for the HSJ Awards 2019 and 2020. He also enjoys promoting carer causes from both national charities Carers UK and Carers Trust. | ||
